From the 12th to the 14th of May the Foundation will organise a series of events dedicated to the relationship between art, culture and learning.
The Pino Pascali Foundation will host a series of initiatives organised in collaboration with local associations, over a period of four days. The project opens on the 12th of May at 7 pm with the presentation of Lucia Diomede‘s book “Shapes of Sounds” , published by Prospettiva editrice, 2015.
Marilena Abbatepaolo, Councillor for Culture in Polignano a Mare and Maria Rosaria Colonna,will present the event and will start the exhibition with a reading by Antonella Cautero. The author will take part in the event.
Lucia Diomede is the winner of the 2013 BrainGNU award – poetry section, which has last year resulted in the publication of her anthology Shapes of Sounds. It is a poetic sort of handicraft which often dwells upon itself, its tools and its raw material – sounds, words and the graphic symbols which represent them –, on their strength or lack of it, on their ability to survive or being lost forever.
From the 13th to the 29th of May, the Pino Pascali Foundation will hold, instead, the itinerant exhibition Sensoltre promoted by the NGO IT Without Borders. It is a tactile itinerary to be taken in the dark which has now been visited by over 2,500 people all over Italy. The exhibition, which is at its 9th edition, returns to Apulia and is held for the first time in a museum of contemporary art: the Pino Pascali Foundation. Before starting their itinerary, all visitors, both blind or not blind, will receive a smartphone with NFC technology(near field communication) and a set of headphones to help them follow the audio/tactile itinerary. A voice will guide them and provide them with tactile instructions and music to help them explore each painting.
The following spokespeople for ISF Puglia have taken part in the development of the project: Chiara De Felice – regional coordinator; Roberto De Niccolò – member of the national ISF board; Prof. Filippo Lanubile – IT Department, University of Bari; Fabrizio Lippolis – creator of the app for Sensoltre – Emanuela Ferri, Giovanni Pedote (aka Giope, the artist from Polignano who makes pittosculptures, tactile works made of matter and colour).
Finally, on the 14th of May at 7 pm ( and until the 18th of May) we will open the doors to an exhibition that presents the results of the Training Course held by Paolo Comentale from Granteatrino Casa di Pulcinella, director, puppeteer and writer. The course “ the languages used by figure theatre : from written text to representation” was organised in collaboration with the comprehensive institute “Sarnelli De Donato” in Polignano and is addressed to local teachers. This course analyses the various languages that contribute to create an educational puppet show.
In fact, in a Figure Theatre show many languages are employed, from creative writing to script, from music to painting and drawing techniques. This is an educational method that helps students free themselves of certain communication blocks, thus promoting integration within a heterogeneous and multicultural group of students. During the exhibition the works made by teachers will be shown.
